CHAPTER PROGRAMS
This program is a joint effort between individual AFCEA Chapters and the Educational Foundation to promote effective science teaching and to enhance the abilities of capable science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) teachers in K-12 schools worldwide. The AFCEA Educational Foundation will provide $1,000 for an elementary, middle or high school STEM teacher (or international equivalent) to purchase supplies and/or equipment that would augment their science and/or information technology activities in the classroom.
Checks to participating chapters are mailed to Chapter presidents in September.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS
The Oriole Beach Elementary School on Oriole Beach Road, in Gulf Breeze, Florida 32563 is looking for dedicated people who love math, science, young talent and can give the gift of their time as a volunteer for this coming August and the 2009 – 2010 school year. Approximately 800 students per week attend Oriole Beach Elementary. Last year, OBE began a Science Club which offered a friendly, fun and safe place for Elementary 4th and 5th graders to learn more about science. This program proved to be extremely successful, creating an interest level that far exceeded any expectations. This year, Oriole Beach would like to jump start a Robotics Club. This type of Club would meet one day a week before school, (7:00am 8:00am). Assuming this program would run similar to that of the Science Program, 4th graders would be offered to join the club during the 1st term semester (2009). Because of limited space, only thirty 4th graders would be able to attend per four week session. A new group of students would be invited to join each session, allowing 120 4th graders the opportunity to benefit from this program. The 2nd term semester (2009), 5th graders would attend the program in the same Manner.
Offering that special touch of math and science excitement requires volunteers willing to spend their time helping these amazing students who may end up serving our community or worldwide in a scientific career. The school ' s immediate need is for one to two volunteers willing to head up this program. These volunteers would need to be knowledgeable in the area of Robotics. As a volunteer you would serve one hour each week with the students in addition to any preparation time required to plan for the program. Volunteers must be 18 years of age, have the ability to pass a background check, fill out the standard volunteer form, and qualify through the school’s main office.
